Prices, Deposit & Extras

The price shown on AutoZone.al is the rental price for the car, dates, times and locations selected in the booking flow.

It usually includes:

  • use of the car for the selected rental period,
  • basic mandatory cover required by the rental supplier or local law,
  • any mileage allowance shown for the offer,
  • any included taxes or fees clearly listed during booking,
  • any inclusions shown in the offer details.

The exact inclusions can vary by rental supplier, location and car type.

Before booking, always check the offer details, Rental Policies and confirmation/voucher to see what is included for that specific reservation.

Some costs are not included in the price shown during booking and may be paid separately.

These can include:

  • fuel,
  • security deposit,
  • optional extras,
  • additional driver fees,
  • young driver or senior driver fees,
  • one-way rental fees,
  • cross-border or ferry permission fees,
  • out-of-hours pick-up or return fees,
  • local taxes or location surcharges,
  • tolls, parking charges, traffic fines or administration fees.

The offer details and Rental Policies show the main exclusions and any mandatory charges that may apply.

For payment method rules, see Payments.

A security deposit is an amount blocked or held by the rental supplier at pick-up.

It is used as security for possible charges such as:

  • damage to the car,
  • missing fuel,
  • late return,
  • traffic fines or tolls,
  • unpaid extras,
  • breach of rental conditions.

The deposit is handled by the rental supplier, not by AutoZone.al.

If the car is returned on time, with the correct fuel level and in line with the rental conditions, the deposit is normally released after the rental.

The deposit amount and card rules are shown in the offer details, Rental Policies, confirmation or voucher.

Most rental suppliers take the deposit as a pre-authorisation on a credit card in the main driver’s name.

This means the amount is blocked on the card but not normally taken as a payment unless there is a valid charge under the rental agreement.

Some suppliers may accept debit cards, but many do not. Always check the card rules before booking.

The release timing depends on:

  • the rental supplier,
  • your bank or card provider,
  • whether any post-rental charges apply.

In many cases, the block is removed within a few days after the car is returned. Some banks may take longer.

For exact deposit and release rules, check the supplier’s Rental Policies and your voucher.

Deposit information is normally shown in the offer details, Rental Policies or important information section before booking.

Look for wording such as:

  • Security deposit
  • Deposit/excess
  • Credit card deposit
  • Pre-authorisation
  • Main driver credit card required

If the deposit amount or card rule is important to you, do not confirm the booking until you have checked it clearly.

Also check whether the supplier requires a credit card in the main driver’s name. This is one of the most important rental desk requirements.

For driver and card rules, see Driver Requirements and Payments.

Fuel is not usually included in the rental price.

Each rental has a fuel policy, such as:

  • Full-to-full: you collect the car with a full tank and return it full.
  • Same-to-same: you return the car with roughly the same fuel level as at pick-up.
  • Prepaid fuel or other policies: you may pay for fuel in advance or be charged under the supplier’s rules.

If you return the car with less fuel than required, the rental supplier may charge for missing fuel and an additional service fee.

Always check the fuel policy in the offer details, Rental Policies or voucher before pick-up.

No. Tolls, parking fees, congestion charges, traffic fines and speeding fines are your responsibility and are not included in the rental price.

You may need to pay tolls or parking directly during your trip.

If the rental supplier receives a fine or unpaid charge after your rental, they may:

  • charge the fine or toll amount to you,
  • charge an administration fee for handling it,
  • provide your details to the relevant authority where legally required.

The supplier’s process for fines and charges is explained in their Rental Policies or rental agreement.

Extras are optional items or services that are not included in the basic rental price.

Examples include:

  • child seats or booster seats,
  • GPS/navigation,
  • additional driver,
  • winter tyres, snow chains or winter equipment where available,
  • cross-border or ferry permission where allowed,
  • out-of-hours service where available,
  • additional cover or protection products.

Prices for extras can be charged per day, per rental or under another supplier rule.

Extras are subject to availability and are normally paid at the rental desk unless the booking flow says otherwise.

Check the offer details, Rental Policies and voucher before booking or pick-up.

Extras are usually selected during booking where available, but many are paid directly at the rental desk.

In most cases:

  • you request or select the extra during booking,
  • the supplier confirms availability,
  • you pay for the extra at pick-up in the local currency.

Some extras may be request-only and cannot be guaranteed until the rental supplier confirms them.

Before signing the rental agreement, check:

  • which extras have been added,
  • the price of each extra,
  • whether the price is per day or per rental,
  • whether local taxes or fees apply.

For payment method rules, see Payments.

The rental price shown in your confirmation or voucher is based on the details entered during booking.

The amount payable at the desk can change if:

  • you add extras,
  • you change dates, times, locations or car group,
  • you add another driver,
  • you choose extra cover or protection,
  • local fees or taxes apply to extras,
  • you do not meet the original booking requirements and the supplier offers an alternative,
  • fuel, tolls, fines or late return charges apply.

The rental supplier should explain any extra charges before you sign the rental agreement.

Before signing, check the desk breakdown against your voucher. Ask the supplier to explain anything that does not match the booking conditions.
